Social Media last post!

This year I have been exploring many web tools on the internet. It has been fun. Although some days I really didn't want to do what we were doing I'm GLAD I did because I realize I learned a lot about some web tool I had no idea existed. I have to say the one tool I learned a lot about is Google. I didn't know there was much more to the search engine, and I learned that it a lot like Yahoo in a way. I also enjoyed the personas from Firefox! They are really cool! I loved how I was able to make the toolbar my own and not something that was just given to me. Then we did a thing where we can add a picture or make your own thing on Favicon to put on our blogger next to our web address! I really did like this class over all! Mrs. James YOUR AMAZING! I would like to take social media 2, so that I can learn more perhaps! Well as I said I had a good time, and learned a lot!

Glog & Kerpoof

A glog is a mulitmedia poster online. You can to Glogster.com and make your own. You can use this for making a presentation for a class. You are able to link on here so if you have a topic that you want alot of info on and you can get it from a site you can just link the bubble and as soon as you click on to it your webpage will show up. Its also for if your just wanting to have fun and making something for friends or just to write radom stuff with pictures. I used it for fun mostly. I have been thinking abolut using it for a presentation for an upcoming class. Its alot easier I think then using a slideshow, so that you can have all you need on one page and not having to link every slide you have to create. You are able to add effects on the glog. You can edit a picture by adding a frame, and you can creat text bubbles. There are many fonts and stickers you can use to make the glog your own. You can upload pictures as well. Its really fun to play around with!

Kerpoof is a drawing, story book, movie making and you can make a card. Its kinda a site for younger kids. If you have a young sibling you can show them this site and they can go on and make an account and just have fun basicly. Although me a 16 year old had some fun with this site, and its really cool that if you make a cared you can send it to someone. You are able to make a congrats, thank you, mothers day, fathers day, earth day, invitations, valentines day ect.. I also liked the story making one. They give you characters to mess with, and you can pick a story line. From what story line you choose you get certain characters. The drawing is fun as well, but you have to earn points in order to get more drawing tools. You get the points by doing the activites on the site. I would recomend this for any child to play with. It gets them involved on the computer and starting to learn the parts of how it all works.

Firefox Add on's

The Firefox Ad on's is really cool. I explored them and I found many things I was able to put onto my Firefox. There are many categories that you can go through. There are games that you can add, and I was able to add a game called Destroy the web. Its where you can go onto any web page and click the game and basically blow up the page! As much fun as those are sometimes you want to have something that is use full to have at just one click. There's many ad on's that deal with language support, privacy and security, communication, shopping etc. I also downloaded a translator type thing, so if I ever need to look up something in a different language all I have to do is click that and then type in what I need to know and there it is. I would say to explore these ad on's and see what you can find. You never know what you will find, or fond something that you didnt know was there that might help you while your on the internet.

Tiny Chat & Favicon

Tiny Chat is somewhere you can go into and make a chat room for people to go to and talk to you ether with IMing or video chatting. It was really cool. We got to use both ways with the chatting back and forth and video with 2 people. You are able to have as many people as you want in your chat room talking and with video. It may get a little confusing with many people in the chat room talking. You can use this with friends if your out of town maybe and if your just wanting to have fun talking to people.  You can search randomly for chat rooms, but I recommend not doing that one!

Favicon is a site where you can design an icon that you can put onto you web bar. An example of this is on our school website for grades. You are able to upload a picture of what you want. You can also make your own. I made my own of a heart. To put it on a website you have to be able to edit the html. If you are not able to do so this will not work. I put it on my blogger, and I think its really awesome how I was able to make my own instead of having the B for blogger on it. I say if you want to make your blogger or page you have your own then you should check out FAVICON

Domain

A domain is a web address you can make your own. Its easy to use although you do have to buy them. Its something to use if you plan to keep up a website or blog that you have made, and its better then having a really long we address that many people may not want to type every time they go to the site. It does cost some money to keep it as yours but its cheap. If I was going to make a website or blog that i was going to keep up with I would most definitely buy my own domain!

Bibme

Bibme is a site where is helps you make a workcited page. You can look up just about any book, magazine or article and even movies. Its really easy to use. It is as well very helpful when writing paper. There are many Bibliography websites, but i would say that this one is the easiest and most interesting one to use!

Firefox Personas

The Firefox Personas are great! It allows you to make the Toolbar/Heading your own. You can make your own my uploading a picture of something that interests you. You can also just choose from the ones that are there that other people have uploaded, and you can look the different categories that are there. It cool that you can make it something you want to look at every time you get on the internet!

Histats

Histats is much like the counter you can out on your blog off of blogger. Its just a little cooler! You can add ones that are animated, and they do the same thing as the one off blogger. It counts how many people have been to your page, but it does not show you from where. It does have graphs to help you know what days they went to your page.

Blogger Gadgets

There are a lot of gadgets you can out on to your blogger page. I have put the stats one which counts how many people have been to your page, and from what country. Its really awesome! There is also awesome games you can put on there. There is a few that are dealing with news, and some that have music. Its cool. People that got to your page can explore the fun gadgets you have put on your page. Some are also helpful with translating and counting like if you enter 3+4+5+6+7 you will find out that is equals 25.

Stats

This is a gadget that you can put onto your blogger so that you can see how many people have looked at your profile and where from. Such as what country and what device they used to look at the profile. You are also able to see the URL of the person that visited. It is really cool to know that people all over are able to look at your blog!

Word Cloud

A word cloud is where you can put in word describing your main topic, and you are able to use it for a school speech to help you remember the main parts of it. You can make ones with your friends names or your family. There are some really fun word cloud websites.

My Meez Room

The Meez room is just were you can design and personalize you "house".  Its kinda actually fun, and after you get done with making the room (which for most of the items you need money, but you can play games to get those.) Well after you get done with that you can go to your friends rooms and chat with them!

Diigo, Delicious, Symbaloo

These are a few of the Social Bookmarking sites that we have been using. They are good for many things.  You are able to share them with others on the internet.Tag bookmarks to help others when they are searching. Also on Diigo you can use what is called a highlighting tool so you can easily highlight the text and i will show up on your account. You may also add stick notes that are just personal thoughts bout what you think bout the site or whatever it is you posted. With Symbaloo is where you can add your bookmark and it will show up on your home screen. Delicious is also awesome. You are able to add your bookmarks with tags. These are all cool sites that can be used for bookmarking to keep organized and share cool sites with everyone on the internet!

This is one of the things we messed around with. Its on E*Trade. Its called Baby Mail. It was fun.

You can pick from one of the babies they give you are you can upload any pic you want. You can make it talk by typing in the box! Its kinda stupid, but its fun:)

Textanim

This is just a place where you can type in your name, phrase, or anything really and then make it "pretty". it just make it look cool. Not something you see all the time. something you can put on the top of a presentation or on your webpage. There is font choices and color and designs. It fun!:)

Meez (avatar)

The Meez website it kinda like Voki but in many ways different. On Meez you cant make it talk, but you can change its hair and face and clothing. On here there is many more options dealing with making you avatar. Its much more detailed. You can do an animation on it where it is doing something that seems like you. You are able to change the background. Also when you first make the account you get 2,000 points that allows you to but things when editing you avatar and in order to get more of these points you can play the games that are available on the site.

I had fun messing around with the different clothing and animations. I would say you will have more fun on here then Voki. Its a fun site to make different things and just messing around and i know you probably will too!

You can do many things with this site making an avatar. You can change its hair color. Able to change its clothing. You are able to make one with a dog, cat, human, anime, celeb, ect. You are able to make it talk as well, and change the voice of it. You can make the face different size. change the hair color. lip color. skin color. 

I had fun making mine. Im sure that you will have fun making one yourself. Its fun to mess around with the different types of characters on Voki! 

How I am currently using social media

When I get online I use Facbook, Myyearbook and check my email.
I have used Facebook, Myearbook, Picnik and Google for most of how I use tools to use the web.
While using this class and learning more bout these tools and how to make getting online more fun than it already is for me.
